The M23 connector handles the combined signal and power wiring on servo motors and encoders. It’s bigger than an M12 and rated for more current, which is why it shows up on the motor side of motion systems while M12 handles the field devices.

Single-cable hybrid M23s are worth a close look if you’re designing new machines. They combine resolver or encoder signals with motor power in one connector, cutting one cable and one connector per axis. Existing designs usually split into two M23s, which we also supply.

Is M23 the same as M23/7/8?
The “7/8” refers to a larger inch-based power connector used on US automation. M23 is metric and is the common encoder/motor interface in Europe and Asia.
